Model of the Day - Devon Weiss

By: Vera Gushansky
Today's model of the day award goes to my close friend, Devon Weiss! Devon has bagged dozens of jobs and is undeniably stunning. Her personality is just as beautiful as her face and she is one of the funniest people that I know. With all that said, Devon is one of the most down to earth and humble people that I know. When I'm with Devon it's all smiles and giggles. Devon is signed with Next Models in Los Angeles and Major is Paris. Some of her favorite shoots include: "some cool jobs I've done are abercrombie campaign a couple years ago shot by bruce weber, worked with tony duran twice for angeleno magazine, and shot with giuliano bekor and runway for louis vuitton in paris". Said by Devon herself ;).

Name: Devon Weiss
Age: 18
Height: 5'10

Christian Louboutin for Barbie

by: Jade Jorda

A very special Barbie was made available yesterday on net-a-porter.com. If you're wondering why this website, well its because because it is a renowned clothing and accessories retail website. Furthermore, it is special because she is wearing Christian Louboutin shoes! The genius shoe designer finally made a shoe fit for an icon every girl aspired to become at some point in her life. If you're thinking of getting it... well it's too late!! On net-a-porter.com anyway... That's right, even though $150 is quite expensive for a small plastic doll, it sold out in ONE DAY! You can still get it on barbiecollector.com but it is backordered until Dec. 11. Cat Burglar Barbie (yeah, because not only is she wearing Christian Louboutin shoes, she's also wearing a sexy black latex catsuit MEOW!) comes with four gorgeous pairs of mini Louboutin shoes, mini Louboutin shoe boxes and bags and Barbie and Louboutin's Paris travel journal. How chic. I want one !!

Um, what.

In most cases, I commend fashion designers who include a shock factor in their lines. Although, in those types of lines, most of the clothing could never be worn. It does take a very wild (and open minded) imagination to create jaw dropping pieces, so I must respect raw creativity. When I saw the Writtenafterwards Spring 2010, debuted in Tokyo, Japan, I was merely struck with, confusion. Still can not figure out what the designer was thinking. Looks like Jesus meets the runway.

Again, I am struck with confusion.
Haha @ the man holding the cat.

AC Slater @ Avalon

by: Jade Jorda

As you've noticed, Strapless's primary concern is fashion. However, we feel its necessary to tell you about great events that will arise throughout the year! We're also major music fans and we wouldn't want you to miss out on the fun. And here's another one:

Madness is gonna go down again at the Avalon this upcoming friday and the least I can say is that I am super stoked!!
AC Slater
, a famed freeform DJs from New York will bring his east coast style to the our lovely west coast, pump up the already-super-pumped Avalon sound system and make your legs shake to the heavy bass he's about to drop. If you enjoyed Rusko two weeks ago (Vera made a post about him in early November), something tells me you're going to be delighted by this! Don't miss out!
Listen to these tracks:

(thanks to Gottadancedirty.com for the last track)

Now, do you believe me when I say it's gonna be madness?!
Yeah, I'll see you electro lovers there ;-)

Look What The Cat Dragged In

By: Vera Gushansky

The leopard fad is back! I think it's safe to say that leopard print can be considered as permanently in style. Every couple years or so, the fad leaks its way through the runways, then through the fashionable celebrities, and finally to us, the fashionistas.

Tavi: the New It-Girl in Town

by: Jade Jorda

Tavi Gevinson, a Chicago-native blogger and 13 year old fashionista, is the girl everybody's talking about lately. She is the muse of many designers in Tokyo, she has become a regular front-row guest at fashion shows and she is in part the inspiration for Rodarte's new line at Target. So, like me, you're thinking, "how has a 13 year old become the talk of the town?" Especially since Tavi describes herself as "Tiny 13 year old dork that sits inside all day wearing awkward jackets and pretty hats."

Well, here's the thing:

Her style is first of all outstanding, she can pull off whatever she wants. From plaid button ups, to destroyed tights, tye dye tights, to pink low heels, funky headpieces, and all the way to a mix of colors that one would never think would work together... Tavi, is definitely an inspiration. On top of it all, her writing is way beyond her years and just exquisite to read. She doesn't sound like she's 13 all the time but some things that she writes just make your heart melt and remind you that she's not all grown-up yet like, "but for now I'm too lazy to upload any photos or even go downstairs to get a glass of Nesquik even though it sounds really good right now." So cute right ?? Finally, the fact that she's 13 and so in touch with fashion is intriguing to many people. If I were a designer and knew a girl that age was talking about me, I would be so honored to know that she's able to appreciate what I'm doing. Her age definitely worked at her advantage because it makes her way more approachable than, say, a 20 year old like me. I mean.... If I went up to James Franco and started talking about freaks and geeks like she said she did in a post, he'd for sure think I was the freak. (Oh well... if that gets me to talk to James Franco, maybe I'll try it one day... nothing to lose right ?! haha)
Here's a couple pictures of this cutie pie pulled directly from her blog, which is definitely worth a look if you want to know what all the fuss is about.

A Little Bit Of Me

By: Vera Gushansky

When trying to pull of a look which conveys your desire to appear fashionable, without giving off the impression that your ensemble was carefully calculated, dressing casual, while still looking chic, is always a must. With that said, I decided to dress casual to a local sushi restaurant yesterday evening.

Today, I took a stroll up Runyon Canyon. Runyon Canyon is famous for its argeous trails which whisk your body into perfection, a great location for spotting celebrities, and most of all, it's beautiful views of Los Angeles. Apparently the heavens were on my side today because this afternoon I was supplied with the clearest, most crisp landscape view I have seen, ever since I can remember.
